Welcome
The Hudson Classical Ballet School is affiliated with The Montreal Ballet Educators' Society (M.B.E.S.) and holds classes at The Hudson Creative Hub, 273 Main Road, in Hudson. Students come from Hudson, Saint-Lazare, Rigaud, Dorion-Vaudreuil and as far away as Grenville.
Sandy Ferguson has been teaching classical ballet to children in Montreal and surrounding areas since she was 16 years old and founded her Hudson School more than 30 years ago. Over the years she has produced more than a dozen Childrens' Theatre Ballets at Village Theatre in Hudson, including Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Twelve Dancing Princesses, Aladdin, Cinderella, and the Nutcracker. All these shows are based on original fairy tales and classical ballet selections.
Sandy believes in teaching the children the joy of dancing to classical music, moving freely, gracefully and expressively using classical ballet technique.
The focus is to ensure that the children are having fun in a safe, non-confrontational and disciplined environment and every now and then a professional ballerina may be discovered.
Sandy Ferguson
Sandy started taking ballet at the age of three and has been dancing ever since. Her first and most influential teacher was Eleanor Moore Ashton, Artistic Director of the Montreal Ballet School based in The Town of Mount Royal.
She has taken lessons with Ludmilla Chiriaeff and Fernand Nault (Les Grands Ballet), Edward Caton (Russian Style), Eva Von Gensy (Jazz), Jeanne Marler (Jazz), Isobel Von Grunde (Modern and Martha Graham Techniques), several teachers from the New York City Ballet school and others.
In addition to her love of dance, Sandy has taught Fine Arts, Drawing and Painting at the Secondary School level and in her home studio for more than 25 years.
Sandy uses her own syllabus created from the Cecchetti, Royal Ballet of London, Russian, Danish and Ballanchine styles of dance and incorporates her knowledge from courses in human anatomy and from her training as a Certified Physical Fitness Instructor to create lessons that are safe for children of all ages.
